Quarterly Bonus Blog: Notary Blogs — What to Write About and What Not to Write About

Welcome to our first Quarterly Bonus Blog Post of 2026. Four times a year, I’ll share an extra post outside of our regular twice-a-month schedule, focused on strategies you can apply right now to grow your business.

One of the biggest mistakes I see notaries make when they start blogging is this: they write only about notary work. While it’s natural to talk about your services and expertise, if you want your blog to truly catch fire and bring in paying clients, you have to write about topics that your ideal audience actually cares about.

And for most notaries, your ideal audience isn’t other notaries, it’s your clients.

Step 1: Identify Your Audience

Before you type a single word, you need to know who you’re talking to. Are your ideal clients:

  • Estate planning attorneys?

  • Escrow and title companies?

  • Small business owners?

  • Families preparing important legal documents?

Each audience will have different interests, challenges, and questions. A blog that speaks directly to them will stand out and be remembered.

Step 2: Write for Them, Not for You

Here’s the hard truth: your clients don’t wake up thinking about acknowledgments and jurats. They think about their own needs, problems, and goals. Your blog should show them how you can help solve those problems.

Examples:

  • For estate planning attorneys: “5 Ways to Make Client Signings Smoother and Faster”

  • For busy parents: “Traveling with Kids? What You Need to Know About Minor Travel Consent Forms”

  • For real estate agents: “How a Mobile Notary Can Help You Close More Deals Without Delays”

Step 3: Topics That Attract Your Ideal Client

You can mix notary-related posts with more general, client-centered content. For example:

  • Local business spotlights (great for SEO and networking)

  • Step-by-step guides related to your clients’ industries

  • Checklists that make their lives easier

  • Seasonal tips, such as “End-of-Year Document Checklist for Small Business Owners”

The more you show that you understand your audience’s world, the more likely they are to see you as their go-to notary.

Step 4: What Not to Fill Your Blog With

  • Endless posts about notary laws and procedures (unless your audience is specifically other notaries).

  • Overly technical legal explanations that could be mistaken for giving legal advice.

  • Personal rants or unrelated hobbies that don’t connect to your client base.

Step 5: Be Consistent and Strategic

Even the best blog topics won’t work if you post randomly. Create an editorial calendar that alternates between notary-focused posts and client-interest posts. This mix keeps your blog relevant to both search engines and your audience.

Final Thought:
Your blog is a bridge between you and your ideal clients. If every post is written for other notaries, you’re missing the chance to connect with the people who actually hire you. Step into your client’s world, write about what matters to them, and watch how much more attention your blog receives.

Don’t wait — start building a blog that connects with your ideal clients today.
